As indicated in the introductory story, the foundation of this piece was laid about 35 years ago in 's-Hertogenbosch. I spent my time between holidays at the Sint-Jans Lyceum. Through bizarre detours, such a lost melody eventually finds its way back. Once it became clear that this piece had to be the conclusion/end-part, the rest of the development proceeded quite easily.

Since I was already working with the "animal kingdom" (before Horse d'Oeuvre was established, two other four-legged creatures had already been approached for collaboration), I kept this one in the animal kingdom as well.

Because the story was clear to me, I had to follow a metaphorically similar route in search of animals. Although there are several animal species that do not have a very easy start in life, the turtle appealed to me the most due to its slowness and the prospect of a totally different and harmonious world: the coral. This combination quickly created a storyline with a corresponding structure.
